Swinging with the Stars announces 2018 date, title sponsor

Swinging with the Stars Saskatoon and Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation are pleased to announce that the sixth edition of the highly popular dance event will take place on Saturday, January 27 at TCU Place. Ens Auto returns as title sponsor for the fourth straight year.

“Swinging with the Stars was created as a high energy, action packed, fundraising event designed to create community and change,” says its founder Brett Bayda. “We’re pleased to have raised significant dollars for several charities in the city.”

Last year’s event raised $152,000 for the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation. “Everyone should have the chance to dance and that’s what Swinging with the Stars did last year,” reports CEO Steve Shannon. “The event helped fund patient-centered renovations to the hospital’s Physical Rehabilitation ward and clinic.”

The 2018 Swinging with the Stars will benefit the hospital’s Breast Health Centre, he adds. “Swinging with the Stars will support the purchase of an Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS). It’s a powerful new tool that will help many patients get more accurate diagnoses sooner, which is crucial when dealing with cancer.”

Assisting the event raise dollars is another great line-up of celebrity dancers, says Nicole Hustej, the Foundation’s Events and Community Relations coordinator. “This year’s line-up is an energetic, passionate and very competitive group of true community focused individuals. They’re training hard with professional dance partners to try and win your votes.”

To be introduced soon, Hustej says the diverse group includes a female police officer, a Huskies athlete, a morning show host, an executive chef, and several prominent business people. “I think we’re all in for a real treat when they take to the dance floor on January 27th. It will truly be winters hottest and most entertaining night of fun and dance!”

Based on TV’s Dancing with the Stars, the event pairs eight local celebrities with professional dance instructors. Dancers compete for two trophies: The Crowd Favorite, decided by fans and Team Excellence, as voted by guest judges.

Early bird general admission and VIP tickets are currently on sale at You can follow Swinging with the Stars on and on Facebook or Twitter.
